HOME SUPPORT

The Home Support Worker pilot provides in-home caregivers with the opportunity to become permanent residents once they have 2 years of eligible work experience in Canada. It also lets their family members come to Canada to work or study while they get work experience.

Home support workers provides personal care and companionship for seniors, persons with disabilities, and convalescent clients.

Care is provided within the client's residence, in which the home support worker may also reside.

They are employed by home care and support agencies, private households, or they may be self-employed.

Step 1

Have a job offer

CLB 5 Language level

One year of Canadian post-secondary education or equivalent foreign education (this must be supported by an Educational Credential Assessment)

First aid certification

One year of experience working with elderly or persons with disability is required

Police Certificate

Admissibility

Before you come to Canada, we  submit your application for permanent residency, work permit, or study permit for yourself and your family. 

Get an occupation-specific work permit that will allow you to complete the 24 months of work experience you need to obtain permanent residency.

Get a work permit for your spouse/common law partner and a study permit for your children. 

Buy your plane ticket to Canada.

Step 2

When you have completed 2 years of work experience as a home support worker  in Canada, we will finalize your permanent resident application.
